I really cannot come up with a title for this post. Anyway, what I wanted to let you all know is of new decisions made for Etsy and Facebook pages. Whoever is a fan on Facebook will get a sneak peek of the items that will be posted on Etsy a day or two later, giving you guys a chance to Reserve your items prior to them being posted! Most of the things I create are one of a kind so chances are there won't be materials to make a repeat. This keeps things fresh for you and me. I think all the heat in Miami these days has triggered my love for sunshine. Lately even more because it's been rainy! I come from a city where the sun shines and afternoons are breezy and cool (Cali, Colombia). After that, I lived in a city that was 2600 meters closer to the stars (Bogota, Colombia), which was cold and dry. And after that, I moved to Sunny (aka hot and humid) South Florida, which makes me appreciate the sunshine everyday - I really can't stand too many cold days!

The lyrics to "My Girl" are the ones that inspired me to create the bracelet-earring set (sold separately at my Etsy shop).

Earth and Blood

That post title sounds like the name of a horror movie :)

Here's my latest Etsy shop update!

These are Blood, Sweat: in Tears, the hoop earrings. They come as a pair and ship for free if bought with something else. And they're only $7! Can be packaged individually as two gifts or two stocking stuffers (start your Christmas shopping now! And from home!)

And this is Mar y Tierra, the necklace. This name was given because of the wonderful mix of colors that the Chrysocolla stone has. It looks like a flat version of our Mother Earth. This one is $27.

The stocking stuffer idea was given to me by one of the blogs I follow. I thought it was great and very doable when it comes to small earrings. Getting back to business

After a few months of settling in my new part time job I am back to Etsy business. Not that I wanted to leave it behind but I just needed to organize my time better in order to not go insane. Here's the result of last night:

Job searching

I have abandoned the blog - and my Etsy shop - a lot lately. I finally can search for a job, I changed my name legally in every single place (social security, DMV, banks, etc) so that I don't have to be running with that once I get a job.

So, getting a job is a pain in the ass. They didn't teach us this in college (thanks teachers!). I've kept busy by typing up my resume, writing separate cover letters for each of the job applications, who would've thought you needed to do that!!!???? And the fact that I have two, yes two, degrees, doesn't make it that much easier to find a job. So, anyone in the Miami area that reads this and knows of someone who is hiring in either Interior Design or Industrial/Product Design, please contact me!

On the brighter side, I renewed four items on my Etsy shop today. Oldies but goodies! Enjoy!

My plane is waiting but I wanted to share these earrings:

The fun thing about them is that you can choose to wear them as they come, looking like cherries (or little apples!); you can wear them as berries, using only the red bead; or wear them as leaves, using the green pressed glass leaf. So versatile, they work with many different outfits!

Contrasting additions

Today both items added to Drop of Sunshine's Etsy shop are contrasting in shapes and colors!

I finally posted one of the purple items I've been working on, the Glam Rock bracelet (I love the name!). The crackle beads give off so much shiny awesomeness!

Also, another pair of earrings was added to the collection. These are inspired by vampires and droplets of blood... don't you agree?

I promised myself I would add at least two pages of items by the end of the month and I'm falling behind. There is just so much to do around here! But keep visiting my Etsy shop for more updates!

Busy week and more jewelry

This week has been hectic, mainly trying to get all the Spring cleaning done at home(too much to do!!!) and spending some quality time with the hubby. I've been away from the computer but here are some things I posted this week on my Etsy shop.

Feeling reddish

These are my last four listings on my Etsy shop this week. Notice something unusual?

For some reason I was feeling inspired by my red bead drawer. Out of all five of them (I have one for reds and pinks, one for oranges, yellows and whites, one for greens and browns, one for blues and one for purples and blacks), the red bead drawer was calling my name, and I answered! :)

I promised myself the next items will have a more diverse color palette. But don't they look nice all together?

New items in the shop

I haven't posted anything about jewelry I've been listing lately so here goes nothing! The last two pairs of earrings sold within the day so it didn't give me a chance to even post on the blog (which is pretty awesome). This time I decided to do a set of earrings and necklace. The Goldilocks necklace is made of clean cut window beads rimmed in gold (hence the name). It's a pretty simple way to put some charm in your outfit!

The matching set of earrings, also by the name of Goldilocks, accentuate the necklace but are bold enough to be worn by themselves, doesn't matter if you like wearing your hair up or down, these are guaranteed to make a statement!

I have more things boiling in the design drawer, but I still need some supplies to finish them off (just another excuse to buy supplies!). Hopefully by tomorrow they will be posted. For now, back to creating!

February Color Trend

February is here and with it comes a new birthstone: Amethyst.

I've always loved amethyst because of it's varieties in tones. It can have a it's lavender tone mixed in with little white, a little bit of clear stone, a mix of both or none at all. It has been known as a stone used when seeking abundance and prosperity. Amethyst is also used for meditation and when you need help in seeking a path.

This stone mixes in perfectly with one of the colors of the Spring 2009 Fashion Color trend: Lavender.

The color, inspired by the lavender flower, has been always considered a feminine color, as it's a soothing mix between light blue and pink. It can be mixed with dark colors, such as brown or dark green, or simply combined with a darker or lighter shade of the same. Add some green or light blue to it, and you have a spring color that can be used in clothing, accessories or decoration. Lavender is girly yet mature, sexy in many ways and sometimes reminds us of summer sunsets - who doesn't love it when the sky has purplish hues?

To honor this month and the fashion forecast, I made these earrings, following the color and the girlish characteristics of lavender. They are made with sterling silver and lavender buttercup flowers. You can purchase them here. There is only one pair available!

This is only one of the many colors chosen ahead for spring collections, I will be writing about more as they come into my designs.

Someone picked me for a Treasury!

I can't help but feel little butterflies when someone picks any of my items for their treasuries. I don't mind if these make the Front Page of Etsy or not, to me it means someone liked my things enough to select them over millions of other beautiful Etsy finds. I got a pic of this treasury and would love to share it!
